Some Belated Updates from Dear Mister Ward
Newsletter housekeeping, new video, and a message from 'Dad' Lammon
Hi everyone, sorry it’s been so long since my last post. I’ve been working on a research heavy post that has been taking longer than expected. I hope it will be worth the wait.
In the meantime I wanted to take care of some housekeeping.
I changed up the perks for paid subscribers. I’ve realized that it’s not realistic to think I can post more than I already am. I spend all day staring at a screen at my day job and can only do it so much more when I get home. Not to mention my research rabbit holes have been getting deeper and deeper. Editing down what I’m learning into something post length takes some time.
The most exciting addition is that I’m going to start including videos and other multimedia bonuses at the end of posts for paid subscribers. The post will be available to everyone but the video will only be available to paid subscribers. At this point they will mostly be recordings of actors reading the letters from the live performances I’ve done so far.
I’m going to break that in with my next post and then a series of posts focused very tightly on the folks who wrote the letters. Specifically I’ll be posting what I’ve found out about some of the writers so far and some things I’m hoping to learn more about. I’m still looking for living relatives of most of those folks and I’m hoping maybe a blog post that Google can find might help them find me. Each of those posts will include a video of someone reading the letter from that person.
Here’s a free sample of a hilarious performance from the second show we did at the Shea Theater in Turners Falls.
In other housekeeping news any paid subscriber can now take 10% off of merch in the Dear Mister Ward store.
Even more exciting is that all founder level subscriptions now come with a signed copy of the book and a 20% discount in the Dear Mister Ward store. I’ve taken the last 10 copies of the 1st edition off of the website and they are now exclusively available to founder subscribers. Once those run out signed copies of the 2nd edition will be available.
Thanks for reading and know that I very much appreciate everyone’s interest and patience as I try to keep this going.
Since you lasted this long here’s an extra bonus. It’s the beginning of the intro to the book “Outdoors with ‘Dad’ Lammon” for which Nellie Buck was the associate editor. However if the rumors in a column I read are true, she did most of the work at their paper so who knows, maybe she wrote this intro. I’ll write more about this book later but the first few paragraphs seemed fitting considering how slack I’ve been about writing.
